Despite claims by Team RockStar that 'RockStar' Spud has suffered a neck injury at the hands of Sam Slam, tomorrow night's British Heavyweight Title rematch at XWA Goldrush has NOT been cancelled.
We understand the XWA office has not received any medical evidence that Spud is unfit to wrestle at Goldrush, despite his tour manager Stallion's comments on XWA YouTube yesterday. Stallion has told the XWA office that Spud suffered a neck stinger injury during his British Heavyweight Title-winning match against Sam Slam at XWA Last Fight at the Prom last September, and also suffered a concussion at the hands of the former champion during the same match. But being "the fighting champion" that Spud is, Stallion says, he soldiered on and put the title on the line at XWA Battle of Britain in October. There, Stallion says Sam Slam's "recklessness" damaged Spud's neck even further. Although 'The RockStar' suffered more serious neck damage in a match on a Frontier Wrestling Alliance event in November, Team RockStar are firmly laying the blame for their Double Champion's condition at the feet of Sam Slam - hence their campaign to 'Ban Sam Slam' from the XWA. Team RockStar say that Sam Slam is a danger, a "runaway train" who is completely out of control. Although no medical evidence has been forthcoming, Stallion has provided XWA management with a dossier of evidence to back up the 'Ban Sam Slam' campaign. This includes video footage of the events following Last Fight at the Prom, when an angry Sam went on a furious spree attacking XWA officials, including delivering a power bomb to referee Dominic Nix. However, XWA owner Greg Lambert remains unconvinced and has ordered 'The RockStar' to be at XWA Goldrush tomorrow night. As of yet, Spud v Sam Slam remains an official match on the card. And with the XWA fans - and Sam Slam - baying for 'The RockStar's blood, we reckon that Spud will have to produce concrete medical evidence, or come up with a damned good explanation, to get out of putting the British Heavyweight Title on the line at the last ever wrestling show at The Morecambe Dome. Be at XWA Goldrush tomorrow night to see what happens!
