At the start of the night, El Ligero wasn't even in a title match. But by the end of it, the Mexican Man of Mystery had capped an emotional return from shoulder surgery to regain the British Flyweight Title.
That's right, 'The RockStar' Spud is no longer the XWA Double Champion. His claims, which many think are dubious, that he has suffered a severe neck injury at the hands of Sam Slam well and truly backfired on him. After Spud claimed he would be unable to wrestle for three months, 'The RockStar' was stripped of the British Flyweight Title which he has failed to defend since May 2009. This gave a fantastic opportunity to El Ligero, Marty Scurll, Tiger Bailey and CJ Banks as their Flyweight Contenders' Match was suddenly upgraded to a battle for the vacant title. And it was the masked man who reigned supreme, pinning Marty Scurll after 20 minutes of blinding action; a simply marvellous match to grace The Dome on its final night as a wrestling venue. Congratulations to El Ligero, who now joins 'Bollywood Dream' RJ Singh as the XWA's only two-time British Flyweight Champions. ARRIBA!
