Following the release of footage where XWA owner Greg Lambert agreed with Team RockStar's demand for him to ban Sam Slam, we have received further information about this shocking development.
We understand that Sam Slam's current two-year contract with the XWA expired yesterday and Lambert has changed his mind about offering Sam a planned new three-year deal. By allowing Sam's contract to run out, Lambert has essentially terminated Sam's employment with the company. Lambert has also ordered us to remove Sam's profile from the XWA website. Finally, he released a short statement to this effect. "Sam Slam is no longer a member of the XWA roster and will not be booked on future XWA events." It's clear from Lambert's comments on our YouTube footage that "the XWA fans do not deserve to see Sam Slam any more" that the decision was made out of pure malice. Ever since XWA Goldrush, Greg has been on something of a power trip, enraged by what he perceives as the XWA fans and 'The Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere "crossing the line" by sticking their nose in family business - namely his Cousin Tom's dream of being a professional wrestler. We understand that other XWA officials, particularly Mark Kay and Dann Read, are extremely unhappy with Lambert's decision. Although Team RockStar has made various accusations about Sam's "reckless behaviour" in recent months, Kay and Read do not see any concrete justification for not renewing Sam's contract. Kay realises that Sam Slam is the XWA's most popular star and his departure will infuriate XWA fans. Meanwhile Read is a close personal friend of Sam's and has been something of a mentor to him, so he is understandably furious at the decision. But there is very little Kay and Read can do. Lambert, as major shareholder in the XWA, has the final say over hiring and firing of wrestlers. It seems that he has made an example out of Sam Slam to send a message to the XWA fans and wrestlers that he - and he alone - is the man with all the power in the XWA. And what of 'The Heavyweight House of Pain' Stixx? We all saw the end of the footage, when our cameras caught a glimpse of Stixx's reaction to the news that Sam Slam was banned. It's clear from his facial expression that Stixx shares our sense of injustice over the Sam Slam situation. We wonder if the man who many describe as the XWA's 'locker room leader' intends to do anything about it. Or if, indeed, there's anything he CAN do...
